Why Fear Evolution?
VANITY

The human species is well known for our lack of humility. Assumptions that we are special riddle our history. The Earth was the center of the universe at one time. Why? Because we assumed our unique significance was evident. As the most perfect beings in the universe, we must be at the center of it.
SUPERIORITY
The offense some feel at being related to other species springs from an innate feeling of superiority. It’s why we assume there is a god who of course made us in his image. It is not specific to species distinctions. It is at the heart of why discrimination and prejudice exist, because our view of the world springs from right behind our eyes. We are the center of the universe, each and every one of us.
DISCONTENT
The repulsion of related species also stems from a lack of being truly happy. Instead of accepting the awesome majesty of the universe and our role as a part of it, we look for “something more”. The idea of heaven in and of itself is a manifestation of this. The overwhelming majority of people need to believe that there is something to look forward to after this life. Personally, I need no such consolation prize. My prize is living here and now, and enjoying my life to it’s fullest. For me, that means living a morally responsible life, trying as hard as possible to care more for others than I do for myself, and loving my family, friends, and fellow creatures. All these are rewarding and fulfilling for me, no afterlife required.
EMOTION OVERRIDING LOGIC
Finally, the evidence for evolution and natural selection is overwhelming and logical. This is refutation of solid evidence based on the irrational beliefs of a sociologically troubled species. I suppose you have to make a choice; live in the real world, or wait for your imaginary one.
